Sam Howard is currently the Principal of Business Intelligence at Sway Capital, where he has been for over five years. In this role, he manages day-to-day operations, oversees the tech stack, and drives strategic initiatives and new business lines. He also supports the firm’s fundraising and deal selection, leveraging his deep understanding of both the financial and tech landscapes.
With over a decade in the venture ecosystem, Sam's journey into venture capital and asset management began with his entrepreneurial instincts. As the co-founder of MiP.O.V. Technologies, an EvoNexus portfolio company, he successfully raised capital, led product development, and gained invaluable insights into what it takes to build and scale a tech startup. This hands-on experience laid a solid foundation for his subsequent roles in the venture ecosystem.
Sam’s expertise in evaluating high-potential ventures was honed through his work with Tech Coast Angels, where he conducted due diligence on high-tech and life science companies, sharpening his analytical skills and understanding of investment-worthy startups. He was selected as one of two Program Leads for the 2018-19 Startup Leadership Program (SLP), demonstrating his leadership and dedication to nurturing future entrepreneurs. Additionally, Sam actively contributes to the Marketing Advisory Board at Point Loma Nazarene University and coaches the Principles of Marketing course at the Fermanian School of Business, sharing his wealth of knowledge with aspiring marketers.
Sam holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, specializing in lean systems, operations, processes, and manufacturing. He has furthered his education in asset management by completing a certificate in Venture Capital from the University of California, Berkeley.
